Luxe Box January 2012 Review

Delivery Packaging:
The first 2012 Luxe Box has finally arrived! There was a shipment delay that Loose Button did notify subscribers to. Unfortunately, it is basically the end of the month now. On a good note, surprisingly, the box is larger than usual! It still comes in a brown cardboard delivery box, with a flip open lid that has its website and brand "Loose Button" on it. The delivery method used this time was Express CanadaPost, with tracking, due to the delay issue.

Packaging itself:
The reason for the delivery box being larger this time around was because there's 2 boxes within it! The first box is the usual black, slide open box with the Luxe Box brand and logo on it. Comes with black tissue and a black personalized sticker this time instead of silver like last month's (December 2011 Luxe Box).

Ending box packaging:
This is the end of the 1st box! The bottom of the box is filled with black crinkled paper strips. After emptying the box, you can see that the bottom of the box is white but the interior sides of the box is black lined all over with their white button logo. What a classy and sophisticated black and white box!

The 2nd box included in the January 2012 Luxe Box is a white one, with a box flap like a normal box, with the Luxe Box brand and logo on it. This one has no tissue, but comes with grey crinkled paper strips. This box is named the Bath and Body Box.

Overall Thoughts:
Am I happy with the January 2012 Luxe Box? A little hard to say. Quantity wise, it does seem like it's providing a lot. The issue is that I suppose it's quantity vs. quality. A lot of the samples included is what it is, just normal size samples. There's really not much that is DELUXE to these samples. Yes, it has a new Bath and Body box, though I don't know if this is just for this month or if it is an ongoing thing. It also has  the new MyScent program which is nice, so i will overlook the fact that they resent me 2 of the perfume samples I had received in my December 2011 Luxe Box. Although it's nice that I have the opportunity to provide feedback for the Olay product, really, that's not a product that's customized to me since I do not have an anti-aging issue. The Pur Minerals sample product was nice as well, if not for the fact that on the Luxe Box description card it stated that i should be expecting to receive the FULL SIZE version of it, not just a sample size. The only actually full size product that I did end up receiving, not including the Schick razor that everyone had received, is the NYX lipgloss. Cool colour. Do you notice the niceness of the box? Not amazing and wondrous but only alright.

Maybe part of my issue with this month's Luxe Box has to do with the fact that i'm a bit disappointed with 2 issues that's relating to the workings of Loose Button itself, not the items in the Luxe Box.

Firstly, there was the issue with the shipping. I literally JUST received it today. True, they did send me notification that shipping would be delayed this month. As well, they did upgrade the shipping service at no charge to Express CanadaPost rather than just Regular CanadaPost but this is in part to making sure that they could even have it delivered for January. We are basically into February right now. I don't mind it so much that I had to wait for the box. It's the reasoning behind it that bothers me. I know they said part of the reason was due to the brand partner's end being delayed but they also said it's because of overwhelming feedback from people complaining about it not being fair about receiving the Luxe Box at different times and losing the element of surprise, due to people posting online. By delaying and shipping it out during a one-time, 3 day period, rather than their usual span over 7 days, it didn't really help the issues since the boxes still arrived at different times, for example, I saw postings from people who received it on Friday, whereas I just received mine today. As well, by having to ship everyone's by Express CanadaPost didn't save them any money. Unfortunately, the issue of postings online can't be helped due to this variance, whether it be Luxe Box or CanadaPost, either way it'll arrive at different times and the only way to avoid losing out on the surprise of the boxes would be to not see the postings online beforehand.

The other issue I had with Loose Button is that while the idea of the First in Line Program is nice, while they post it as giving you a timeline of approximately 3 days to reserve, by not having the quantities available, an expectation is created by the program followed by a feeling of disappointment. Don't get me wrong, they do caution that quantities are limited and that it is confirmed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Literally though, by giving a 3 day timeframe to reserve a product and than having quantities already reached WITHIN the 1st hour is a bit of a letdown. As well, how much of the quantities are available to reserve? From postings I read, even though some people were too late to reserve some of the First in Line products, they still received them. Is not all quantities put up to be reserved? If not, who decides which subscriber gets these hard-to-get products in there Luxe Box?

Please note: The products available for the First in Line program were:

It seems like it's all based on luck for Luxe Box sometimes. Is it really personalized? I find that the products included in Luxe Box majorly varies from different subscribers and not just because it's customized/personalize. If it's only 1-2 products that's different, it's not such a big deal. With Loose Button Luxe Box it's quite noticeable or maybe it's just this time. Hopefully, this isn't how Luxe Box will be for the year of 2012. I'd like it to be a little more consistent and fair in regards to what everyone is getting. It's a little hard to honestly recommend Luxe Box to people when you can only tell them, "Yes, it's good, but it sorta depends on how lucky you are and can be hit or miss". Overall, product-wise the box would be an A. Taking into consideration the issues of shipping, First in Line program, and inconsistencies, unfortunately, I had to make adjustments to the January 2012 Luxe Box rating.

Rating: B
