Holt Renfrew Chanel Shade Parade Event

In honour of the parade of iconic shades of Le Vernis de Chanel and the North American launch of the Chanel Knightsbridge Collection, a limited edition makeup collection available exclusively at Holt Renfrew, the Chanel beauty counter at Holt Renfrew (at Bloor Street only) is having an complimentary event called Shade Parade, from February 27, 2012 to March 4, 2012. (Of course, purchase is always appreciated)

It's pretty cool, considering the fact that Chanel doesn't have promotions or events going on too often. How it works is that you make an appointment with their expert manicurists at the Chanel beauty counter for a shape and colour of your choice of nail shade. Following the appointment, their Makeup Artists introduces you to their new and exclusive Knightsbridge Collection.

Chanel Shade Parade (Short Film)
This short film features a chorus line of dancing fingers in Chanel's iconic nail polish shades:

Chanel - The Knightsbridge Collection

The Knightsbridge Collection includes:
Brompton Road $70
Kensington, Hyde Park, Belgravia $40 each
Chelsea $31

I had the pleasure of attending the Chanel Shade Parade event at Holt Renfrew Bloor Street during the week. They are pretty much fully booked but had mentioned that they were extending the event until end of next week due to high demand and interest. I found this event more unique compared to other cosmetic brand events just because normally only a makeup application session is how the event works. Events rarely ever do manicures and being the huge nail fan that I am, that totally won me over. Really, I thought the event involved only the manicure, I was surprised that a followup makeup application portion was included. Woohoo! Bonus! (Though it could've just been my reading comprehension wasn't up to par when I read the description)

The Chanel Shade Parade event started off with me getting my manicure done by my expert manicurist, Ilona. She was a true professional, very knowledgeable and helpful. The manicure included shaping, buffing, hand massage, base coat, nail polish colour, and top coat to finish off. With the help of her wisdom, I ended up choosing the Chanel nail polish shade, 525 Quartz (which I ended up purchasing). It's truly such a lovely colour. A burnished gold/bronze colour that's a shimmery/metallic shade. I love it! I don't think I have a shade too similar to it yet. You could choose any colour from Chanel's nail polish collection. It really was so hard for me to choose between my top 3 which was: 525 Quartz, 487 Rouge Fatal and 461 Blue Satin.

Afterwards, I was lead to my makeup artist, who's name escapes my mind unfortunately though I can say that her personality was so cute, she was unique, and had the funkiest glasses. She was great! She was very knowledgeable about the products as well and walked me through the steps. The Knightsbridge Collection was so pretty for spring, with lots of pinks and femininity involved.

These are the items I ended up purchasing:

  1. Chanel - Poudre Tissee Highlighting Powder and Blush Natural Finish CDN retail: $70.00
  2. Chanel - Illusion D'Ombre Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow CDN retail: $37.00
  3. Chanel - Le Vernis de Chanel CDN retail: $27.00

Chanel Poudre Tissee Highlighting Powder and Blush Natural Finish (colour type = Brompton Road)

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow (colour type = 85 Mirfique)

Chanel Le Vernis de Chanel (colour type = 525 Quartz)

If you are planning to purchase anything from Chanel's Knightsbridge Collection or anything from Chanel beauty in general, this is a great time to buy, so that you can take advantage of this Shade Parade event. Remember, space is limited, so book your appointment ASAP!
