Julep March 2012 Review

Delivery packaging:
This is the March 2012 introductory box for my Julep Maven subscription! After taking the Julep Maven Style Quiz, it was determined that I was Classic with a Twist and this is the box I received. It's very sleek looking, arriving in a square black cardboard box with the white Julep Maven name and brand on it's side. With Julep being a U.S. company, the shipping method used was USPS First Class Mail International. Unfortunately, tracking is not available for international shipments once outside the U.S. Although, the good news is that Julep offers free shipping to all Mavens =)

Packaging itself:
Unlike other monthly beauty sample box subscriptions, the items from Julep do not come packaged in another box within the delivery packaging. Instead of using another box, Julep stores items directly within the delivery cardboard box and package some of the items in a purple paper bag tied with a white satin/thread ribbon.

Items inside the box:
  1. Julep Maven Classic with a Twist card: gives a description of all products included in the box
  2. Julep Maven letter: welcoming letter that talks about Julep
  3. Julep Maven benefits letter: describes how Julep Maven works and the benefits of it
  4. Julep Nail File
  5. Julep Facial for Hands Glycolic Hand Scrub (full size 89ml / 3 fl. oz. retail: $32.00) - *FULL SIZE*
  6. Julep Nail Vernis Brooke (full size 8ml / .27 fl. oz. retail: $14.00) - *FULL SIZE*
  7. Julep Nail Vernis Jennifer (full size 8ml / .27 fl. oz. retail: $14.00) - *FULL SIZE*

Ending box packaging:
While the outside of the cardboard delivery packaging box is black, the inside is the traditional brown.
The bottom of the box is filled with black crinkled paper strips.

Overall impressions:
Although I knew about the existence of the Julep Maven subscription, it took me a while to jump aboard. It's all thanks to Samantha (http://nailartcouture.blogspot.com/) who was able to convince me to bite the bullet and give Julep a try. It sure didn't hurt that there was a promotion going on where you can receive your first Julep box for a single PENNY! The promotion is still going on, it's just that this month it's a different code SHAREONMARCH. If you're interested in trying Julep too, you can sign up at http://www.julep.com/?r=19514457(This is my referral link and if you sign up through it i'll get an opportunity to earn a free subscription ~ Thank You SO much!)

While it did ship out quick from Julep, it did take a bit longer than the other beauty sample boxes to arrive. Took approximately 8 days, which holds true to their shipping time of 7-10 days and it's pretty good considering it did come from the U.S.A. The other difference I found is that while the other sample box subscriptions usual gives approximately 4-5 deluxe samples of different brands, Julep differs in that way. The items contained in the Julep Maven box is only Julep brand products, which could be a pro or con depending on what you are interested in. As well, you are guaranteed to received over $40 worth of products, most likely at least 2 full size products so it seems. It's still great value, even though Julep Maven is currently the priciest beauty box subscription at $19.99, compared to the others ranging from $10-$15. As I said though, with the 1 penny promotion, it is a pretty good way to try Julep out. Value wise for this $0.01 box that I have just received from Julep, it is AWESOME! Hopefully next month will be just as good or better, if not, at least Julep gives you the options of being able sneak peek the next month's box and skipping.

The only thing that i'm a little disappointed about is that I didn't subscribe early enough to jump on their St. Patrick's Day Mystery Box bandwagon. For $19.99, Julep Mavens had the opportunity to purchase the Mystery Box that has a worth of $60-$200! Oh well, there's always next time =)
