Luxe Box March 2012 Review

Delivery packaging:
Luxe Box took awhile to come in the mail. Not as quick as the other beauty box subscription it seems. Although it is sent by CanadaPost with tracking, I suppose their ship out date is just later on in the month. As per the norm, the March 2012 Luxe Box was delivered in a brown cardboard delivery box, with a flip open lid that has its website and brand "Loose Button" on it. What was surprising was how quick it arrived. I received an email in the morning from them stating that the March 2012 Luxe Box just shipped out and by that evening, it had arrived!

Packaging itself:
Within the cardboard delivery box, we find the standard black, slide open box with the white Luxe Box brand and logo on it. Black tissue paper and a black personalized sticker is what is used to package the contents. I guess that means that the red FLARE Luxe Box that we received for February 2012 really was just a one time deal.

Items inside the box:

  1. Luxe Box March Edition card: lists and gives description of all products included
  2. Luxe Box card: includes a one year anniversary message from Luxe Box/Loose Button to subscriber (Card itself is a special gift because it's made out of seeds for you to plant)
  3. Luxe Box MyScent card: describes their fragrance program and lists and gives description of fragrance samples included
  4. J. R. Watkins coupon: $1.00 off any J. R. Watkins Hand & Body Lotion purchase (not sure if this could be used anywhere or just at Shoppers Drug Mart since their logo is on the coupon)
  5. Cargo - Lash Activator mascara(full size 11ml / .37 fl. oz. retail: $35.00) - SAMPLE
  6. J. R. Watkins - Hand and Body Lotion (full size 325ml / 11 fl. oz. retail: $10.00) - 29ml / 1 fl. oz. SAMPLE
  7. Cargo - Glitter Top Coat (full size 2.8 ml / 0.094 fl. oz. retail: $18.00) - *FULL SIZE*
  8. MyScent Pouch:
  9. CK One - Shock for Her (full size 50ml retail: $40.00) - 1.2ml / 0.04 fl. oz. SAMPLE
  10. Vera Wang - Lovestruck (full size 50ml retail: $79.00) - 1.2ml / 0.04 fl. oz. SAMPLE

Ending box packaging:
To package the contents Luxe Box used black tissue paper and filled the box with black crinkled paper strips. Upon emptying the Luxe Box, you see that the bottom of the box is white but the interior sides of the box is black lined all over with their white button logo. Nice attention to detail =)

Overall thoughts:
From the looks of this March 2012 Luxe Box that just arrived, I see Luxe Box/Loose Button is continuing their MyScent program. I wasn't sure if it was just a program they were testing out for the January 2012 Luxe Box only since it wasn't present in the February 2012 Luxe Box. Maybe they're planning to include it sporadically or every other month, who knows we'll just have to wait and see I suppose.

At first glance of the March 2012 Luxe Box, I had assumed that I had received no full size product at all, which would have been super disappointing. After looking up the products though, I did find out that the Cargo Glitter Top Coat was actually a full size product. The fact that the Cargo Glitter Top Coat and the Cargo Lash Activator mascara sample are quite similar in size made me mistakenly assume both were just samples. Although the Cargo Lash Activator did not have any size information on it, I know that this is a deluxe sample size since I have previously owned the full the size version before. Cargo's just a lovely brand so even though there were 2 products by them included in this March 2012 Luxe Box, it's perfectly fine with me =)

I actually lucked out this time in receiving the Cargo Glitter Top Coat. I was actually able to get in a reservation for it in the Luxe Box First in Line program, which was surprising since I was slower than last time (this time was within 2 hrs where as last time was less than 1 hr of when the email came out). I did miss out on my first choice which was the Cargo Eye Shadow, but at least I was able to get something this time! Either they had more quantities available or everyone wasn't waiting around online for it. Another thing that was nice this time around was that Loose Button had sent out an email reminder the day before the reservations opened to remind subscribers that reservation line would be opened at a specific day and time, so that even if you don't receive the email right when it opens, at least you could log on to reserve.

Please note: The products available for the First in Line program were:

In comparison to the January 2012 Luxe Box, this March 2012 doesn't contain as much quantity wise. Even the MyScent pouch didn't contain as much since this time there was only 3, whereas the January 2012 one contained 6. The bright side of this month's Luxe Box is that quality wise the brands included are quite good and the perfume samples included are ones that I haven't received from Luxe Box before, whereas the January box had included vial samples which they had previously included in other month's boxes. Overall, I think this March 2012 Luxe Box has a nice variety of products where it complements last month's February 2012 Luxe Box well since last month's box included more hair and skin care products.
